What is Basin Assistance Services?  Basin Assistance Services is the HIV/AIDS agency selected as the primary provider of community-based services in the Permian Basin.  Our purpose is to provide emotional, medical, social and other services and support for HIV/AIDS individuals, their loved ones, and persons at risk; to raise public awareness and develop community support; and to provide public education to prevent the spread of AIDS.

Basin Assistance Services provides services to the following counties:  Andrews, Borden, Crane, Dawson, Ector, Gaines, Glasscock, Howard, Loving, Martin, Midland, Pecos, Reeves, Terrell, Upton, Ward, and Winkler.

What is AIDS?  AIDS (Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome) is an illness that impairs the body's ability to fight infection, making the body extremely susceptible to life-threatening disease.  It is the most severe manifestation of infection with the Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV).

Knowledge is Key.  Everyone is a candidate to contract the virus.  No one is immune to AIDS.  Men, women, and children can be infected.  It is very important to be informed on how the virus is passed from person to person.  It is just as critical to understand how you can't get AIDS in order to lessen irrational fear and misunderstanding.
