PBCC offers supports, resources, and opportunities to enable adults and children with mental illness to live satisfying, responsible, and productive lives to the fullest extent of their abilities. Services are contracted from the Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS) to serve adults with Schizophrenia, Bi-Polar Disorder, and Major Depression. Children may have any mental health diagnosis.

Outpatient services are offered to individuals, both children and adults, with psychiatric disabilities and to their families. These services can include conflice resolution skills training, employment related skills training, housing related services, and independent living skills training. Screening, assessment, intake, service coordination, and referral services are also available.
Medication clinics, staffed by psychiatrists and nurses, provide medication for persons who demonstrate a need. Professional staff work closely with Big Spring State Hospital and local hospitals to assist individuals who are returning to the community from these facilities. Case managers assist individuals in finding and recieving services which will help them live comfortable and satifying lives in the community. Psychosocial programs help improve the quality of life and independence of psychiatrically disabled adults. The goal is for each individual to reach his/her optimal level of functioning in the community.

Crisis Intervention/Suicide Prevention Hotlines provide 24 hour a day contact for persons experiencing emotional crisis situations, including possible suicide. The line is manned by highly trained staff who have completed the required training in crisis intervention techniques. Professional staff are available to provide face-to-face intervention including coordination of emergency hospitalization.
The Co-Occurring Psychiatric and Chemical Dependency (COPSD) program serves those diagnosed as having both a major mental illness and chemical dependency. Screening, integrated assessments, counseling, case coordination, and linkages with other providers are provided, as well as face-to-face contacts to ensure the client remains drug-free and psychiatrically stable so as to not require hospitalization or residential care.
